Well, this month started off pretty awful. Two of my much loved rats died. Moss was very old and had lost the use of his back legs, but was still happy and enjoying life - very perky and always happy to see us. He slept in my bedroom in a special pen with vetbed (a special fluffy bedding) to lie on, but one night when I went up to check on him and give him his medicine he just...wasn't there any more. That spark was gone and my wife and I knew it was time. He couldn't move any more, wouldn't eat or drink and didn't even seem to recognise us. I sat up with him all that night with him cradled in my lap thinking he was going to pass away, but when morning came and he was still suffering we had to make that awful decision, that no pet owner ever wants to make. He was our little baby, and so much more to us than 'just a pet'. Moss was part of our family and not having him here is like having a part of me missing. A day after Moss was euthanised, another of our rats, Shane was taken to the vets as he had a rattly chest. While he was in his carrier waiting to be taken home he died, we don't know why. It was very sudden and unexpected as he was in his prime - a big, stong hunk who apart from his snuffle was very healthy! It was such a blow, especially after just losing Moss.


So *Zafonic's half of our trade came at just the right time. She did a portrait of all the rats for me, and it cheered me up so much. It was just what I needed, a memento of all my ratties together.



I couldn't love it more - it's perfect and scrummy and wonderful and it made me go EEEEEEEEEE when I saw it in my inbox!


And, as if things couldn't get any better, I got another fabulous surprise in the post this morning...



My prize from *Aranwen! It is even more beautiful than it looks in the pictures and fits perfectly! Even the bag it came in was pretty I can't thank her enough, it's stunning. If I wasn't so paranoid about damaging it, I don't think I would ever take it off.

I'm also going to see P!nk twice this weekend...which I am beyond excited about, as well as going to a My Little Pony convention (yes....I am that obsessed), so all in all lots of fun should be had.

I will be starting on trades as soon as I've finished my entry for =boribaby's contest and I've got my Uni workload under control! Thanks for your patience everyone...it will be worth the wait, I promise!
